Notifications, emails, calls, slack messages… they all scream for your time. But here’s the catch: just because something feels urgent doesn’t mean it’s important.

As entrepreneurs, we often confuse motion with momentum. We’re constantly responding, reacting, running. But ask yourself: is all that activity moving you forward or just keeping you busy?

Some of the biggest business breakthroughs don’t happen in the heat of urgency. They happen in moments of clarity, when you step back, zoom out, and focus on what truly matters.

1-1-1 Breakdown: Stop Reacting, Start Prioritising

1 Thing
To Reflect On: Are You Mistaking Being Busy for Productive?

I’ve had weeks where I worked 14 hours a day and felt like I achieved nothing meaningful. That’s when I realised: urgency creates illusion. It convinces us we’re being productive just because we’re moving fast.

Insight:  Busyness is often a form of procrastination, avoiding the harder, more strategic things.

1 Thing
To Act On: Use the Eisenhower Matrix

I’ve found the Eisenhower Matrix a useful tool to get out of the urgency trap.

Split your to-do list into four quadrants:

Urgent & Important (Do now)

Important but Not Urgent (Schedule)

Urgent but Not Important (Delegate)

Neither (Delete)

Try This: Take 15 minutes today to audit your week. Where did your time go? How much of it was in Quadrant 2?

The trick? Knowing which 20% to focus on.

Next Big Leap (NBL) : Prioritise to Leap

Your Next Big Leap won’t come from replying to every email or chasing every lead.

It comes from focused, strategic action, on the right things.

Let others stay stuck in the urgent. You focus on what’s truly important
